Tonight's HAIM concert has been cancelled
Sunday, April 27, 2014
from HAIM's representatives:
"HAIM regrettfully have to cancel their Nashville performance tonight at The Cannery Ballroom.
Tornado and severe weather warnings prevented the band from traveling out of Tulsa last night.
HAIM is very sorry to cancel and would never do so unless there were no other option available. The band hopes to find a way to return to Nashville soon, but in the meantime, all tickets will be refunded."
We at Mercy Lounge, The Cannery Ballroom, et al, are very disappointed to be the bearers of this unfortunate news and hope to be able to work with the band to reschedule another appearance in Nashville in the future.
Until that time, tickets purchased through our ONLY authorized online seller, TicketWeb, as well as those purchased through HAIM's fan club (via CrowdSurge) will be refunded directly to the purchaser by the respective company.
Customers who purchased their tickets through our ONLY authorized retail partners, Grimey's, The Groove, Parlour & Juke AND Fond Object, may return their ticket to the venue box office for a refund between the hours of the 5pm and 10pm today OR during the afternoon and regular box office hours next week.
Hailing from the San Fernando Valley, HAIM consists of, “Three sisters, and a mister” that has been shaking things up in the city of Los Angeles for the past four years. It is truly a family affair for the band which prides themselves on being able to switch from instrument to instrument with complete confidence and ease, and all while singing in three part harmony.
The sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana, grew up playing classic rock songs with their parents in a family band, called “Rockinhaim,” which played for charity events and street fairs. After years of playing with their parents, the girls decided to strike out on their own, and began writing their own material. Este, the eldest of the three, plays bass guitar and found time in between touring to graduate from UCLA with a degree in Music. Danielle, the 22 year old lead guitar player, who previously toured with Jenny Lewis, Cee-lo Green, and Julian Casablancas. Alana, the youngest in the band, plays rhythm guitar, keyboard, and percussion. Rounding out the group is Dash Hutton, who previously played drums for LA bands Wires on Fire and Slang Chickens. Over the past few years, the band has opened up for Julian Casablancas, Cold War Kids, Ke$ha, Group Love, No Age, The Bird and the Bee, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Chief and The Henry Clay People. In February 2012, HAIM released a three song EP titled Forever, which is also the title track on the record. It can be downloaded for free at Haimtheband.com.
Straightforward, seductive and sincere, Shy Girls producer and vocalist Dan Vidmar creates with an unabashed pop proclivity. The irresistible sensualism in his songwriting calls out with certain clarity, a soulfulness distinct unto itself. The immediacy of Vidmar’s croon turns listeners towards a captivating empathy. Bedroom eyes shine dewily upon these tracks, carrying melting melodies through perfectly minimal compositions, as undertones of New Jack Swing carry a punch that sways with each hook right on target.
Working days at an emergency room, Vidmar returns to his loft in Portland’s inner Eastside industrial district to craft his sultry pop-R&B into the mystical pre-dawn hours. As much as Vidmar is part of a growing R&B resurgence, he stands apart from the herd of “avant-R&B” artists thanks to his crystal clear production. The tenderness of his art is never submerged in the muck and mire of dissonance, making for a refreshing and universally alluring listen. Vidmar’s swoon-worthy voice is already in demand for vocal features: He partnered with producer extraordinaire Cyril Hahn on the blissed-out dance jam “Perfect Form”, and has lent his vocal prowess to a track on the forthcoming album of Chicago’s cosmonaut house duo Supreme Cuts. As well, he has already seen online love and praise for his six-minute seduction “Under Attack” (which features a gourd-blowing celestial sax solo from tUnE-yArDs’ Noah Bernstein) and its far out remix by The-Drum. Expect the first proper Shy Girls release on Oct. 29th, an EP of devastating slow jams and woozy club cuts entitled TIMESHARE. TIMESHARE will be released in the US on Hit City USA, and in the UK/Eur on ASL Records.
